Tadeu Cearense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 12 minutes of play, Progresul Pitesti's Horaţiu Manafu made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tadeu Cearense was left in no man's land by his defense there! Alex Bucuță kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Velho Barreiro FC's Tadeu Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lucian Panțuru in the 21st minute of play. Emil Şandru made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Joaquim Miranda sent off a good shot on target. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Joaquim Miranda took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Emil Şandru to make any attempt to save it. After some careless play in the Velho Barreiro FC defense, Horaţiu Manafu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tadeu Cearense. The Velho Barreiro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tadeu Cearense should have stopped the shot. 34 minutes into the match, Dragoş Oloieru notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Velho Barreiro FC's Tadeu Cearense. Tadeu Cearense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dragoş Oloieru in the 38th minute of play forced Velho Barreiro FC's goalkeeper Tadeu Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 39th minute, George Buteanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aristide Cordescu took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tadeu Cearense. Tadeu Cearense dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. Velho Barreiro FC's Tadeu Cearense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horaţiu Manafu in the 45th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucian Panțuru in the 47th minute of play forced Velho Barreiro FC's goalkeeper Tadeu Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Disappointed in the 1-6 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Joaquim Miranda made the kick off in the second half. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joaquim Miranda in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Emil Şandru prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 56th minute, Baltazar Monteiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Baltazar Monteiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tadeu Cearense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Horia Caranică went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-7 was the resulting score. With his leg Tadeu Cearense managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Progresul Pitesti's Lucian Panțuru fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After having played for 68 minutes, Dragoş Oloieru managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Progresul Pitesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dragoş Oloieru was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tadeu Cearense made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lucian Panțuru in the 69th minute. George Buteanu was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 71st minute. Progresul Pitesti's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With 78 minutes on the clock, Ilie Bran commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Ilie Bran kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. In the 81st minute, Luizinho Félix hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tadeu Cearense acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 82nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Horia Caranică. After having played for 88 minutes, Aristide Cordescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Progresul Pitesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aristide Cordescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th match minute, Velho Barreiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Miranda to maneuver through the defense. In the 96th minute, Armandinho Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Progresul Pitesti played a much better game than Velho Barreiro FC and deserved their victory. The Velho Barreiro FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
