When Angelo Magalhães fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SAO JOANENSE FC's protests and gave Angelo Magalhães a yellow card for diving instead. In the 18th minute, Angelo Magalhães hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Sten Hagberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22ndth minute of the game Sten Hagberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Rômulo Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sten Hagberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ekedalen SK booed when SAO JOANENSE FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ingvar Bark ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 47th match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gugu da Fonseca to maneuver through the defense. After 48 played minutes, Ekedalen SK's Robert Kalfhage shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rômulo Sampaio came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ekedalen SK reached it.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Pedrinho Lara was the one to do the kick off. Ekedalen SK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
