When Florentino Piarres fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Forest Green's protests and gave Florentino Piarres a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Seraċini Għawdxin booed when Forest Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florentino Piarres didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacobo Iruinea during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Forest Green getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Jacobo Iruinea hit a great ball. Forest Green's Fabio Totakoxe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Seychell in the 11th minute of play. Clayton Gerada made an important save on a dangerous shot by Florentino Piarres in the 15th minute. After 16 minutes, Keith Cassar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Seraċini Għawdxin and the Forest Green players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 16 played minutes Seraċini Għawdxin got a freekick which was hit by Keith Cassar. In the 17th minute, Sixto Isusko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andrew Miggiani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sixto Isusko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Clayton Gerada made a huge save. 22 minutes into the match, Antoine Bugelli notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Forest Green's Fabio Totakoxe. Fabio Totakoxe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fabio Totakoxe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Seychell in the 29th minute of play. Fabio Totakoxe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrew Miggiani's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 33 minutes into the match, Forest Green's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Seychell came free, but Fabio Totakoxe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Robert Seychell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Totakoxe having to interfere. In the 41st minute Sixto Isusko shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clayton Gerada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Robert Seychell in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fabio Totakoxe saved Forest Green from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Robert Seychell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabio Totakoxe was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. Antoine Bugelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Fabio Totakoxe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Giorgio Laferla could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Fabio Totakoxe made a huge save. Andrew Miggiani who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Fabio Totakoxe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice moves Andrew Miggiani could shoot a difficult shot in the 56th minute, which Fabio Totakoxe however easily saved by the left post. Fabio Totakoxe was a little too slow when Robert Seychell got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 0-2. Fabio Totakoxe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robert Seychell's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. After some careless play in the Forest Green defense, Robert Seychell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabio Totakoxe. The Forest Green fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabio Totakoxe should have stopped the shot. Andrew Miggiani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Forest Green fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 65th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, Fabio Totakoxe, was totally fooled by Seraċini Għawdxin's Neil Fenech, who 66 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After some careless play in the Forest Green defense, Robert Seychell kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabio Totakoxe. The Forest Green fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabio Totakoxe should have stopped the shot. Fabio Totakoxe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Andrew Miggiani in the 78th minute. In the 80th minute, Andrew Miggiani made a precise shot to the right of Fabio Totakoxe. Forest Green's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Dalmacio Nabar kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Fabio Totakoxe was out of position in the 95 minute of play, and Robert Seychell capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Robert Seychell really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7. Seraċini Għawdxin played a much better game than Forest Green and deserved their victory. The Forest Green players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
