The throw-in from Louis Bow in the 3rd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Grasshoppers Klucze's Witalis Rosiewicz. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dobromir Kondysar in the 4th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, FC Shakhtar Donetsk's goal looked a bit too open when Dobromir Kondysar came free, but Harvey Smith reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Grasshoppers Klucze's Feliks Dec played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivor Sadler in the 8th minute of play. Feliks Dec made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isaac Crocker in the 10th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Louis Bow in the 12th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Grasshoppers Klucze's Witalis Rosiewicz. When Grasshoppers Klucze's Dobromir Kondysar in the 13th minute got a chance for a shot 13th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Harvey Smith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dobromir Kondysar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 27 minutes, Dobromir Kondysar managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grasshoppers Klucze's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dobromir Kondysar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Grasshoppers Klucze booed when FC Shakhtar Donetsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toby Morgan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Dobromir Kondysar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grasshoppers Klucze's supporters rose to their feet, but Dobromir Kondysar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harvey Smith breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Harvey Smith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dobromir Kondysar in the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes in the game Louis Bow did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Isaac Crocker. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dobromir Kondysar in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Harvey Smith saved FC Shakhtar Donetsk from getting behind. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Ivor Sadler made the kick off in the second half. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dobromir Kondysar in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Louis Bow got a free kick in the 55th minute. Dobromir Kondysar received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. After 63 minutes FC Shakhtar Donetsk's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ryszard Adamowicz who took care of the corner kick. Ryszard Adamowicz made a great header on Grasshoppers Klucze's corner, it was just that FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith managed to reach the ball for a save. 66 minutes into the game, one of FC Shakhtar Donetsk:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Dobromir Kondysar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd match minute, FC Shakhtar Donetsk was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tony Froggatt to maneuver through the defense. Ivor Sadler hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. When Dobromir Kondysar came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Grasshoppers Klucze fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dobromir Kondysar couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dobromir Kondysar in the 93rd minute of play forced FC Shakhtar Donetsk's goalkeeper Harvey Smith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of FC Shakhtar Donetsk booed when Grasshoppers Klucze was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teobald Majerowicz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ryszard Adamowicz kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match.
