The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 5 minutes, Gregoire Van Aertvin took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Orlando Barral to make any attempt to save it. Luciano Velloso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gregoire Van Aertvin hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Walter Gheysen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luciano Velloso, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, Aaron Castermans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pedrão Arce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Pedrão Arce came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Barbie Doll United U23 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedrão Arce couldn't finish the play. 44 minutes into the match, Barbie Doll United U23's Silvério Netto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Walter Gheysen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Pedrão Arce struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Walter Gheysen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barbie Doll United U23. Luciano Velloso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Walter Gheysen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlinhos Maciel got free with Walter Gheysen in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Walter Gheysen made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Pedrão Arce sent off a good shot on target. Walter Gheysen was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luciano Velloso showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 71 minute of play.
