After 4 played minutes Sentinel got a freekick which was hit by Odoy Setiadi. The crowd rose to their feet as New York Red Bulls's Berkan Temel slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of I Gusti Bachtiar. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. Piers Amos hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Eduardo Pereyra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Odoy Setiadi, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Gulliksson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Berkan Temel kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Antonije Griezmann came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when George Schiau got free with I Gusti Bachtiar in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. I Gusti Bachtiar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Doru Coman in the 30th minute. In the 32nd minute Berkan Temel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but I Gusti Bachtiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eduardo Pereyra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramadan Sananta, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Eduardo Pereyra came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by Sentinel's Ramadan Sananta. But to his dismay, Ramadan Sananta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. 37 minutes into the match, Sentinel's goal looked a bit too open when Basarab Panduru came free, but I Gusti Bachtiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. I Gusti Bachtiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doru Coman in the 39th minute of play. In the 43rd minute Berkan Temel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but I Gusti Bachtiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Odoy Setiadi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Eduardo Pereyra made a huge save. In the 68th minute, Basarab Panduru made a precise shot to the right of I Gusti Bachtiar. Sentinel's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basarab Panduru in the 84th minute of play forced Sentinel's goalkeeper I Gusti Bachtiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th match minute, Sentinel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramadan Sananta to maneuver through the defense. 89 minutes into the match, Sentinel's goal looked a bit too open when Basarab Panduru came free, but I Gusti Bachtiar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Odoy Setiadi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sentinel's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
