The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alberto Diana hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Bebeto Queirós kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alessandro Checchia in the 8th minute of play forced Planet Caravan's goalkeeper Romeu Marques to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Acilia Town's Beppe Scannella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anísio Saraiva in the 13th minute of play. Beppe Scannella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hudson dos Santos in the 15th minute of the match. When Diego Garofalo fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Acilia Town's protests and gave Diego Garofalo a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Hudson dos Santos put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Beppe Scannella. 22 minutes into the game, Planet Caravan's Wilian Mendonça nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Beppe Scannella made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. When Bebeto Queirós came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Planet Caravan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bebeto Queirós couldn't finish the play. After 35 played minutes Planet Caravan got a freekick which was hit by Dadá Marques. A collision led to Acilia Town getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Alessandro Checchia hit a great ball. After having played for 46 minutes, Hudson dos Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Planet Caravan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hudson dos Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

Acilia Town's Felice Burgnich was substituted for Aldo De Cesaris. In the 58th minute Hudson dos Santos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beppe Scannella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 60th match minute, Planet Caravan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdomiro Macedo to maneuver through the defense. Beppe Scannella made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hudson dos Santos in the 61st minute. 62 minutes into the match, Planet Caravan's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Diana came free, but Romeu Marques reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Acilia Town getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Felice Burgnich hit a great ball. Hudson dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Beppe Scannella having to interfere. After some careless play in the Acilia Town defense, Bebeto Queirós kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Beppe Scannella. The Acilia Town fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Beppe Scannella should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Acilia Town booed when Planet Caravan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio Saraiva didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dadá Marques took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Beppe Scannella. Acilia Town's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Bebeto Queirós kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Beppe Scannella. That made the score 0-6 in the 81 minute of play. Romeu Marques didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Armando Villa went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. Romeu Marques showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessandro Checchia, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Romeu Marques took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessandro Checchia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Beppe Scannella made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bebeto Queirós in the 95th minute. Anísio Saraiva hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Alessandro Checchia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 98th minute. Romeu Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Planet Caravan walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
