The supporters of Cambridge Esporte Clube booed when FC Grivata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Preben Elkjær didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Kléber Rodrigues fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cambridge Esporte Clube's protests and gave Kléber Rodrigues a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cambridge Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Kléber Rodrigues hit a great ball. The corner led FC Grivata's Preben Elkjær to a score. 1-0 in the 11th minute. A collision led to FC Grivata getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Lyuben Vetov hit a great ball. 16 minutes into the match, Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Juninho Urbano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antonio Dino. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by Cambridge Esporte Clube's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Flóki Konráðsson was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Grivata's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Antonio Dino heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Elivélton Aparecido in the 21st minute of play forced FC Grivata's goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 25 minutes into the match, Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Juninho Urbano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Antonio Dino. In the 26th minute FC Grivata were awarded a corner. Flóki Konráðsson went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalie and right to Antonio Dino. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Cambridge Esporte Clube's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 33rd minute, Antonio Dino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Grivata fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After 36 minutes, Milyo Matrov mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Grivata and the Cambridge Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 36th minute, Milyo Matrov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tostão Lucas struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Antonio Dino took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Juninho Urbano. Juninho Urbano dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Lyuben Dimiev was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flóki Konráðsson in the 52nd minute of play forced Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Juninho Urbano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luís Paulo Correia hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. FC Grivata's Lyuben Dimiev got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lyuben Dimiev sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Sørensen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elivélton Aparecido in the 58th minute of play. Juninho Urbano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lyuben Dimiev, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the match, Flóki Konráðsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Urbano. Cambridge Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flóki Konráðsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. After a rather tough play, FC Grivata's Lyuben Vetov got a free kick in the 64th minute. After 65 minutes, Lyuben Dimiev mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Grivata and the Cambridge Esporte Clube players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 69 minutes of play, FC Grivata's Antonio Dino made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juninho Urbano was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cambridge Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Juninho Urbano, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Cambridge Esporte Clube's Jonas Silveira got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Antonio Dino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Juninho Urbano was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-1. 80 minutes into the match, Flóki Konráðsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Urbano. Cambridge Esporte Clube's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flóki Konráðsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-1. Lyuben Dimiev kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Thomas Sørensen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kléber Rodrigues in the 87th minute. Jonas Senon kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Cambridge Esporte Clube's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
