Dimitri Huijbreghts didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Zlatko Goričan went, in the 7th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. A collision led to HIT Gorica getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Duško Turnšek hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, CJ Desailly hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. HIT Gorica's Konstantin Pančur played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ricki Martín in the 21st minute of play. The supporters of Esquirla FC booed when HIT Gorica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Quentin Willmott didn't get a good kick on the ball. Greg Fondria was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 24th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Bernt Lembrechts kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Zlatko Goričan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dimitri Huijbreghts having to interfere. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when Esquirla FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernt Lembrechts didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Esquirla FC's Kristen Lijsens got a free kick in the 42nd minute. 47 minutes into the match, Esquirla FC's goal looked a bit too open when Zlatko Goričan came free, but Dimitri Huijbreghts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kasper Viskens to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Zlatko Goričan made a precise shot to the right of Dimitri Huijbreghts. Esquirla FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Kasper Viskens received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Konstantin Pančur came out and tried to block the shot, but Kasper Viskens slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 66th minute. After having played for 71 minutes, Ricki Martín managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Esquirla FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ricki Martín was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. HIT Gorica's Wlodzimierz Wlodyga was substituted for Jernej Petrovič. Dimitri Huijbreghts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from CJ Desailly in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th match minute, HIT Gorica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Quentin Willmott to maneuver through the defense. Kasper Viskens in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Konstantin Pančur, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 82nd minute, Istok Šabotić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dimitri Huijbreghts stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Brite McCready's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. In the 89th minute Brite McCready shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dimitri Huijbreghts saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 92 played minutes HIT Gorica got a freekick which was hit by Antoni Zdrojewski. If Philippe-Arnaud Van den Plas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. HIT Gorica's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
