Gilvan Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roque Henrico in the 13th minute of play. The supporters of Renascer booed when Estudiantes de América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Nuñez didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Matias Ler got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Gilvan Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roque Henrico in the 35th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Renascer's goal looked a bit too open when Roque Henrico came free, but Gilvan Sanches reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilvan Sanches didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Javier Markel went, in the 41st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. A collision led to Estudiantes de América getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Rolando Erasto hit a great ball. In the 48th minute, Javier Markel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Estudiantes de América fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Washington Guerra made the kick off in the second half. Gilvan Sanches took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Javier Markel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 54th minute, Eusébio Aparecido hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Cauã Antunes fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Renascer's protests and gave Cauã Antunes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 55th match minute, Renascer was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cauã Antunes to maneuver through the defense. When Matias Ler came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Estudiantes de América fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matias Ler couldn't finish the play. 58 minutes into the game, Estudiantes de América's Filiberto Ourente nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gilvan Sanches made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. After 64 minutes of play, Estudiantes de América's Roque Henrico made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gilvan Sanches was left in no man's land by his defense there! 68 minutes into the match, Renascer's goalkeeper Gilvan Sanches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Roque Henrico. Through an outstanding action, after 70 minutes, Gilvan Sanches successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Gilvan Sanches made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Prospero Abadia sent off a good shot on target. Gilvan Sanches stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roque Henrico's shot from short distance in the 75th minute. 76 minutes into the match, Renascer's goalkeeper Gilvan Sanches had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Filiberto Ourente. Renascer's defense didn't have a chance, in the 77th minute, when Roque Henrico scored to the left of an out of position Gilvan Sanches, making the score, 0-6. Gilvan Sanches made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Roque Henrico sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Prospero Abadia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilvan Sanches. That made the score 0-7 in the 84 minute of play. Prospero Abadia struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Gilvan Sanches didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Estudiantes de América. 90 minutes into the game, Roque Henrico cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-8. Gilvan Sanches was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gilvan Sanches showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Javier Markel in the 94th minute of the match. With a little luck, Renascer's Gilvan Sanches got control of the ball when Filiberto Ourente tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilvan Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Javier Markel in the 97th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Silvano Guib got a free kick in the 98th minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Estudiantes de América had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
