The crowd rose to their feet as Belo Academy's Carlos Alberto Leal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gualterio Trancoso. That made the score 1-0 after 11 minutes of play. In the 17th minute, Carlos Alberto Leal left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belo Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After a rather tough play, BRUGGE FC's Regis Maujo got a free kick in the 21st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ferenc Szántó in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gualterio Trancoso saved BRUGGE FC from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Carlos Alberto Leal took a quick shot and it went in 4-0 without a chance for Gualterio Trancoso to make any attempt to save it. In the 31st minute, Carlos Alberto Leal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gualterio Trancoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Through an outstanding action, after 47 minutes, Gualterio Trancoso successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Felipe Jaramillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The coaching staff of BRUGGE FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Paio Tumiraos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 62nd minute of the game. One of BRUGGE FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Belo Academy:s goal. Gualterio Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgílio Leal in the 67th minute of play. Virgílio Leal hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. 70 minutes into the match, BRUGGE FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Vinhas came free, but Gualterio Trancoso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, Belo Academy's goalkeeper Paulo Renato Dracena had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Osvaldo Rosabel.
