Sant Sabo's goalkeeper Cláudio-André Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 7th match minute, Fire Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martial Schwersenz to maneuver through the defense. After 10 played minutes Fire Devils got a freekick which was hit by Thaddäus Striner. F.C. Sant Sabo were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Fire Devils's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Egoi Nunez took the corner. F.C. Sant Sabo's Egoi Nunez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Walter Fransson in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Fire Devils getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Thaddäus Striner hit a great ball. If Egoi Nunez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Demario Villafane during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 22nd match minute, F.C. Sant Sabo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Demario Villafane to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the F.C. Sant Sabo defense, Denis Lambrozzi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cláudio-André Taffarel. The F.C. Sant Sabo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cláudio-André Taffarel should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Fire Devils's Francis Aberle got a free kick in the 31st minute. 32 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Eugenio Navas came free, but Walter Fransson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denis Lambrozzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio-André Taffarel having to interfere. In the 38th minute Vitin Ziguenza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Walter Fransson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walter Fransson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vitin Ziguenza in the 40th minute of the match. Francis Aberle hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. With his leg Walter Fransson managed to avoid a goal in the 44thth minute, when F.C. Sant Sabo's Egoi Nunez fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

If Egoi Nunez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 61 minutes, Egoi Nunez managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C. Sant Sabo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Egoi Nunez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Fire Devils's goal looked a bit too open when Vitin Ziguenza came free, but Walter Fransson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Kleopas Boller fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fire Devils's protests and gave Kleopas Boller a yellow card for diving instead. In the 70th match minute, Fire Devils was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kleopas Boller to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vitin Ziguenza during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Fire Devils booed when F.C. Denis Lambrozzi helped the player get up and apologised. Vitin Ziguenza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walter Fransson having to interfere. F.C. Sant Sabo's Cláudio-André Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy Vincent in the 85th minute of play. Vitin Ziguenza blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Walter Fransson having to make a save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Fire Devils had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
