Rafet Faydalı sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diederick Van den Plas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Therkild Prendorf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rafet Faydalı kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Thys Konings received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. João Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 15 minutes UFC STEAUA's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Henri-Xavier Imbereghs who took care of the corner kick. In the 17th minute, Rafet Faydalı made a precise shot to the right of Diederick Van den Plas. Royal Antwerp F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Diederick Van den Plas came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf. But to his dismay, Therkild Prendorf quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Thys Konings could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but João Massa made a huge save. 28 minutes had been played when some careless play by UFC STEAUA's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Henri-Xavier Imbereghs was slow to take the kick. During this time Royal Antwerp F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Gigel Seremet kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. João Massa acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 29th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Henri-Xavier Imbereghs. Wesley Hollanders hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Nelson Mendoza made a precise shot to the right of Diederick Van den Plas. Royal Antwerp F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Gigel Seremet took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Diederick Van den Plas. Diederick Van den Plas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Gigel Seremet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Diederick Van den Plas having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Royal Antwerp F.C.'s Hector De Deygere got a free kick in the 46th minute. After the first half UFC STEAUA were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nelson Mendoza made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Therkild Prendorf reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Diederick Van den Plas. The goal made the score 0-6. Diederick Van den Plas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelson Mendoza in the 55th minute. In the 60th minute, Benjamin Borginions hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Diederick Van den Plas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigel Seremet in the 64th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Therkild Prendorf's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Diederick Van den Plas was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Nelson Mendoza put it in 0-8 from a short distance just to the right of Diederick Van den Plas. After some fancy dribbling in the 72nd minute, Nelson Mendoza managed to get in a good position for a shot. UFC STEAUA's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelson Mendoza was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diederick Van den Plas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 75 minutes, Diederick Van den Plas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Therkild Prendorf in the 81st minute of play forced Royal Antwerp F.C.'s goalkeeper Diederick Van den Plas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diederick Van den Plas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Therkild Prendorf, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Royal Antwerp F.C. getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ryszard Dropinski hit a great ball. If Gigel Seremet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Therkild Prendorf had several of the Royal Antwerp F.C.'s defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 94 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-9 score and a disappointed Diederick Van den Plas as he didn't even see the shot coming. UFC STEAUA's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
