LIVERPOOL FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Florencio Ponc ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Florencio Ponc got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Qian Ying Lang quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After 24 played minutes Estudiantes de La Plata got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Gartzea. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mário Súľovský. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 34th minute, Tadeusz Rasialdo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Estudiantes de La Plata's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 43rd minute, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. LIVERPOOL FC's Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When LIVERPOOL FC's Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Estudiantes de La Plata's goalie prevented a goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Filomeno Marko stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. LIVERPOOL FC's Qian Ying Lang proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save LIVERPOOL FC from getting a goal against them. In the 56th minute, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mário Súľovský was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 58th minute, Aurel Corlățean got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Qian Ying Lang made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Rogelio Oroitz sent off a good shot on target. 64 minutes into the game, Mehmet Anıl Nusrettin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Mário Súľovský was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Liviu Rada in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mário Súľovský saved Estudiantes de La Plata from getting behind. When Jacek Majusiak came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the LIVERPOOL FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacek Majusiak couldn't finish the play. The throw-in from Tadeusz Rasialdo in the 81st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by LIVERPOOL FC's Jim Björkkvist. When LIVERPOOL FC's Liviu Rada in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. LIVERPOOL FC's Liviu Rada managed to work through Estudiantes de La Plata's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Liviu Rada dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Mário Súľovský showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Liviu Rada, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Liviu Rada struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Mário Súľovský didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for LIVERPOOL FC. Mário Súľovský made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Liviu Rada in the 95th minute of play.
