In the 5th minute of the match Jan Wennerberg sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dick Vedholm skillfully saved the ball. Hurko Longo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Alvar Arvidsson made a huge save. The audience was convinced that John Bratt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dick Vedholm was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jürgen Trittin in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dick Vedholm saved Black Diamond from getting behind. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell John Bratt to make the kick off.
