A collision led to Twierdza Wroclaw getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Franco Terenzi hit a great ball. 10 minutes into the game, Lisandro Cordareo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edwin van der Sar. Lisandro Cordareo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The supporters of Twierdza Wroclaw booed when Manchester United FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfred Laulaja didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ademir Donatello in the 18th minute of play forced Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Davide Beckham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Kroneder having to interfere. Edwin van der Sar made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Karl-Michael Ersman sent off a good shot on target. Tony Kroneder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Valdemar Kuoppala in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute Taisto Pentsinen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Kroneder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eero Uusipaavalniemi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Tony Kroneder tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lisandro Cordareo in the 35th minute of play forced Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Kroneder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Taisto Pentsinen in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Karl-Michael Ersman. Manchester United FC's Edwin van der Sar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan Fernando Quinteros in the 45th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Edwin van der Sar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lisandro Cordareo, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stefan Lesiecki in the 53rd minute of play forced Manchester United FC's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tony Kroneder made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eero Uusipaavalniemi in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Manchester United FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lisandro Cordareo came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 67th minute Juan Fernando Quinteros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lisandro Cordareo took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Edwin van der Sar. Edwin van der Sar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. If Lisandro Cordareo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Taisto Pentsinen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Manchester United FC's Edwin van der Sar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisandro Cordareo in the 88th minute of play. In the 92nd minute Maksymilian Solibieda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edwin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 95 minutes into the match, Valdemar Kuoppala notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Twierdza Wroclaw's Tony Kroneder. Tony Kroneder was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
