With a little luck, ROJO's Aldo Kaxen got control of the ball when Valdomiro Paraibano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eulalio Quilo might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Valdir Pérez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eulalio Quilo ran back to his position shaking his head. Valdir Pérez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eulalio Quilo in the 15th minute of play. Despite this Valdir Pérez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 34 minutes into the match, Eulalio Quilo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valdir Pérez. União Verde FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eulalio Quilo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Ademir Guia might have been able to make a better finish in the 40th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aldo Kaxen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ademir Guia ran back to his position shaking his head. Valdir Pérez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eulalio Quilo, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. In the 45th minute, Samuel Benet left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The ROJO fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eulalio Quilo was the one to do the kick off. When Ademir Guia fell near the penalty area in the 67th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. In the 81st minute, Rui Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. União Verde FC's players were relieved. 97 minutes into the match, União Verde FC's Gil Paiva broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched ROJO eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
