An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Salgado in the 16th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 17 minutes, Berkay Yetiş made it 0-3 with a short kick to the right side. Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 21 minutes into the match, Roman Gdaniec notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Rangers FC's Fergus Fairbairn. Fergus Fairbairn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 24 minutes of play, Girona FC's Berkay Yetiş made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fergus Fairbairn was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 26th match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Darius Bontine to maneuver through the defense. Fergus Fairbairn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roman Gdaniec went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. In the 31st minute, Roman Gdaniec made a precise shot to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. Rangers FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Berkay Yetiş put it in 0-8 from a short distance just to the right of Fergus Fairbairn. Roman Gdaniec sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Connor Alsop hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Logan McCubbin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fergus Fairbairn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-11. Girona FC made a substitution. Alfonso De Pedro replaced Berkay Yetiş. When Girona FC's David Palau in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rangers FC's goalie prevented a goal. David Palau sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 68 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goal looked a bit too open when David Palau came free, but Fergus Fairbairn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fergus Fairbairn came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Girona FC's David Palau. But to his dismay, David Palau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-13. Fergus Fairbairn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfonso De Pedro in the 81st minute. After 82 minutes Rangers FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Iván Salgado who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Alfonso De Pedro managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Alfonso De Pedros short, quick shot in the 85thth minute got Fergus Fairbairn to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 86 minutes into the match, Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alfonso De Pedro. The audience thought a goal was coming when David Palau got free with Fergus Fairbairn in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Palau in the 87th minute of play forced Rangers FC's goalkeeper Fergus Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Fergus Fairbairn successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Girona FC's Kepa Molina was substituted for Joaquim Lustosa. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rangers FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Iván Salgado was slow to take the kick. During this time Girona FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Rangers FC's goalie and right to Alfonso De Pedro. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Rangers FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. With his leg Fergus Fairbairn managed to avoid a goal in the 97thth minute, when Girona FC's Alfonso De Pedro fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Girona FC played a much better game than Rangers FC and deserved their victory. The Rangers FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
