The audience was convinced that Roman Gdaniec's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gabriel Urtats was relentless in the 5th minute of the game. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Areco FC's goalkeeper Gabriel Urtats, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Agustin Abaunza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lastur Murcia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Roman Gdaniec kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gabriel Urtats. That made the score 1-0 in the 22 minute of play. Lastur Murcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeledon Sol in the 26th minute of the match. In the 28th minute, Roman Gdaniec ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gabriel Urtats was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roman Gdaniec in the 32nd minute of play forced Areco FC's goalkeeper Gabriel Urtats to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lastur Murcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zeledon Sol in the 33rd minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Girona FC's Roman Gdaniec sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gabriel Urtats narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Girona FC's Ovidio Maldonado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gabriel Urtats in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. A collision led to Areco FC getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Lucio Galo hit a great ball. Roman Gdaniec struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Gabriel Urtats didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Girona FC. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Girona FC's David Palau was substituted for Roman Gdaniec. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Agustin Abaunza was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute Girona FC were awarded a corner. Iván Salgado went to the cornerflag to take it. When Berkay Yetiş got the opportunity to take care of a free kick, it resulted in a really dangerous shot that almost went in the goal. Instead the ball hit the crossbar and flew out of bounds. If Berkay Yetiş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Girona FC's Iván Salgado was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gabriel Urtats in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 68 minutes, Cristo Quintero mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Girona FC and the Areco FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Areco FC's Gabriel Urtats played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Palau in the 80th minute of play. Lastur Murcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zeledon Sol in the 82nd minute of play. A throw-in in the 85th minute of the game was made by Hugo Gines with Agustin Abaunza as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 89th minute Alfonso De Pedro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabriel Urtats saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Hugo Gines fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Areco FC's protests and gave Hugo Gines a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st match minute, Areco FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hugo Gines to maneuver through the defense. Girona FC made a substitution. Kepa Molina replaced Joaquim Lustosa. The Girona FC fans' excitement grew in the 95th match minute when Girona FC's David Palau looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
