Damaso Sancho had several of the U Craiova's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 8 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Juan Sendoa as he didn't even see the shot coming. Damaso Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan Sendoa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Damaso Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. 28 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Damaso Sancho came free, but Juan Sendoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romeo Crețulescu to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Damaso Sancho came free, but Juan Sendoa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Froilan Iaki was slow to take the kick. During this time Congo Bongo's players had a chance to rest. Froilan Iaki made a great header on Congo Bongo's corner, it was just that U Craiova's Juan Sendoa managed to reach the ball for a save. The corner led Congo Bongo's Froilan Iaki to fire away a dangerous shot which Juan Sendoa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Arnaldo Oidor might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan Sendoa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Sendoa stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnaldo Oidor's shot from short distance in the 88th minute.
