The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ulf Olofsson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Donato Bordon firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the match had gone on for 8 minutes, Ulf Olofsson took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Donato Bordon to make any attempt to save it. Ib Dalsted hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice moves Ulf Olofsson could shoot a difficult shot in the 11th minute, which Donato Bordon however easily saved by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Vilgot Sandberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. KD Stiger's supporters rose to their feet, but Vilgot Sandberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Donato Bordon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Max Rambov's late challenge caught a KD Stiger's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Max Rambov helped the player get up and apologised. Max Rambov kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. A collision led to KD Stiger getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ulf Olofsson hit a great ball. Benjamin Blixt showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rune Griffenfeld, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Severin Torbell in the 24th minute of play forced KD Stiger's goalkeeper Benjamin Blixt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. KD Stiger's Benjamin Blixt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pelle Hvidegaard in the 26th minute of play. Esbjerg fB's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ib Dalsted in the 35th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Griffenfeld in the 36th minute of play forced KD Stiger's goalkeeper Benjamin Blixt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Servet Turabi in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benjamin Blixt saved KD Stiger from getting behind. Pelle Hvidegaard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Blixt having to interfere. Severin Torbell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Blixt having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Rune Griffenfeld could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Benjamin Blixt made a huge save. Rune Griffenfeld recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Pelle Hvidegaard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benjamin Blixt was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Rune Griffenfeld took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benjamin Blixt. Benjamin Blixt dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. In the 75th minute, Esbjerg fB's Pelle Hvidegaard ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benjamin Blixt. Benjamin Blixt yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. In the 78th minute, Esbjerg fB's Pelle Hvidegaard dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. Rune Griffenfeld received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Benjamin Blixt came out and tried to block the shot, but Rune Griffenfeld slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 84th minute. After 88 minutes, Ib Dalsted mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Esbjerg fB and the KD Stiger players grew even worse after the yellow card. 89 minutes into the match, Esbjerg fB's goal looked a bit too open when Vilgot Sandberg came free, but Donato Bordon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The KD Stiger fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Esbjerg fB were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
