Nicodim Orășan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tim Johnstone having to interfere. MIT were awarded a corner in the 8th minute after The Tigers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mihăiţă Ilarie took the corner. The Tigers's Tim Johnstone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 13th minute of play. Tim Johnstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Caramarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tim Johnstone was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Tiberiu Caramarin capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Tiberiu Caramarin really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. Tim Johnstone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tiberiu Caramarin in the 22nd minute of the match. Tim Johnstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorin Banu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by The Tigers's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mihăiţă Ilarie was slow to take the kick. During this time MIT's players had a chance to rest. A collision led to MIT getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Florin Seremet hit a great ball. When MIT, in the 25th minute, was rewarded a free kick, Florin Seremet went for the shot and managed to fire it away just outside the right post. An excellent chance for a goal! Tim Johnstone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiberiu Caramarin in the 28th minute of play. MIT's Mihăiţă Ilarie got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 44 minutes into the match, The Tigers's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Tim Johnstone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carl Downes to strike the kick off in the second half. Tim Johnstone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiberiu Caramarin in the 52nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tiberiu Caramarin in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tim Johnstone saved The Tigers from getting behind. 58 minutes into the match, MIT's Tiberiu Caramarin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tim Johnstone narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 63rd minute, Tiberiu Caramarin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Tigers's Phil Clarke was substituted for Frankie Brookes. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind The Tigers's goalkeeper Tim Johnstone, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th minute, Tiberiu Caramarin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Tim Johnstone was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. MIT made a substitution. David Tunander replaced Dorin Banu. 72 minutes into the game, Tiberiu Caramarin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Tim Johnstone was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tim Johnstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiberiu Caramarin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, The Tigers's Isaac Bond got a free kick in the 76th minute. MIT's Bogdan Bucataru was substituted for Mihăiţă Ilarie. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tiberiu Caramarin in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tim Johnstone prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tim Johnstone didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tiberiu Caramarin went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. 89 minutes into the match, The Tigers's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Caramarin came free, but Tim Johnstone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that MIT were the better team. MIT's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
