An unexpectedly hard shot by Lex van der Werff in the 17th minute of play forced Florida Gulf Coast's goalkeeper Luis Nardo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lukáš Katačić in the 19th managed to get into a good position. After a rather tough play, Florida Gulf Coast's John James got a free kick in the 28th minute. Bogdan Brăiloiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luis Nardo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Milosz Okraszewski made in the 54th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Maciej Serwach however managed to control. Lex van der Werff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 59th minute, Bogdan Brăiloiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luis Nardo was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Milosz Okraszewski kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Florida Gulf Coast's Lukáš Katačić got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luis Nardo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bogdan Brăiloiu's shot from short distance in the 69th minute.
