The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Alkvist in the 7th minute of play forced SOUTH THUNDER's goalkeeper Sebastian Xabier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Salem Gunners BK booed when SOUTH THUNDER was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeronimo Errapel didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig-Åke Alkvist in the 8th minute of play forced SOUTH THUNDER's goalkeeper Sebastian Xabier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sebastian Xabier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cícero Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sebastian Xabier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viggo Berggren, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Stig-Åke Alkvist in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Xabier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jeronimo Errapel's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Prodromos Britzolidis firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 24th minute, SOUTH THUNDER's Jeronimo Errapel ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Prodromos Britzolidis. Prodromos Britzolidis yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sebastian Xabier prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 33 minutes into the match, SOUTH THUNDER's goal looked a bit too open when Cícero Teles came free, but Sebastian Xabier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Salem Gunners BK's goalkeeper Prodromos Britzolidis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jeronimo Errapel. Prodromos Britzolidis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Procopio, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some careless play in the Salem Gunners BK defense, Bonifacio Arias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Prodromos Britzolidis. The Salem Gunners BK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Prodromos Britzolidis should have stopped the shot. Bonifacio Arias struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Prodromos Britzolidis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SOUTH THUNDER.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jeronimo Errapel made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Jeronimo Errapel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prodromos Britzolidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Xabier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stig-Åke Alkvist, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bo Sundén could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Sebastian Xabier made a huge save. In the 59th minute of the match Salem Gunners BK got a corner. SOUTH THUNDER's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Viggo Berggren ran over to the corner to take the kick. Salem Gunners BK's Svante Gustafsson was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sebastian Xabier in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 60th minute, Augusto Procopio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, SOUTH THUNDER's goal looked a bit too open when Svante Gustafsson came free, but Sebastian Xabier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute Jeronimo Errapel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prodromos Britzolidis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Salem Gunners BK's Benjamin Jansson got a free kick in the 73rd minute. After having played for 74 minutes, Augusto Procopio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SOUTH THUNDER's supporters crossed their fingers, but Augusto Procopio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 76 minutes into the match, Svante Gustafsson dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sebastian Xabier, 2-1. Jeronimo Errapel's late challenge caught a Salem Gunners BK's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeronimo Errapel helped the player get up and apologised. After 79 played minutes SOUTH THUNDER got a freekick which was hit by Jeronimo Errapel. SOUTH THUNDER's Sebastian Xabier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Svante Gustafsson in the 80th minute of play. After 81 minutes SOUTH THUNDER's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Viggo Berggren who took care of the corner kick. After 82 played minutes Salem Gunners BK got a freekick which was hit by Benjamin Jansson. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bo Sundén got free with Sebastian Xabier in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Grant Grant hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SOUTH THUNDER fans cheered their team off the field, for while Salem Gunners BK had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
