Mané Viana came out of the goal in the 22nd minute to try and stop a shot by Botafogo AP's Fritz Ernst Joinvilense. But to his dismay, Fritz Ernst Joinvilense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. José Pedro Bertassi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Wennerberg in the 26th minute of the match. In the 27th minute, Cleytec de Nilópolis RJ's Dário Carneiro ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind José Pedro Bertassi. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mattias Wennerberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
