Fausto Jayaga made in the 5th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Niva Espellosa immediately put the ball in play. The supporters of POPULAR F.C booed when Playa Malvín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandu Mândrilă didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mazinho Carvalho got a throw-in 11 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Victorio Pabla. After a defensive mix-up in POPULAR F.C's zone, Niva Espellosa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pancracio Paniagua came out of the goal and Niva Espellosa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save POPULAR F.C from getting a goal against them. In the 20th minute Victorio Pabla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Roberto Teixeira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pancracio Paniagua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niva Espellosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the game, POPULAR F.C's Victorio Pabla nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Roberto Teixeira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Playa Malvín were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after POPULAR F.C's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sandu Mândrilă took the corner. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Niva Espellosa to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Playa Malvín defense, Victorio Pabla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zé Roberto Teixeira. The Playa Malvín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zé Roberto Teixeira should have stopped the shot. In the 56th minute Sandu Mândrilă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pancracio Paniagua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niva Espellosa in the 61st minute of play. POPULAR F.C's Sílvio Luís Pires was substituted for Gilson Cordeiro. Playa Malvín's Quinto Ampudia was substituted for Niva Espellosa. Playa Malvín's Vladimiro Marquez quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Léo Gonçalves, made in the 66th minute of the game. Pancracio Paniagua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Quinto Ampudia, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Pancracio Paniagua stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Quinto Ampudia's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Playa Malvín's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Vladimiro Marquez in the 79th minute. Quinto Ampudia might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pancracio Paniagua. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Quinto Ampudia ran back to his position shaking his head. POPULAR F.C's Pancracio Paniagua played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Quinto Ampudia in the 80th minute of play. A collision led to POPULAR F.C getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Léo Gonçalves hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hipolito Gante in the 91st minute of play forced POPULAR F.C's goalkeeper Pancracio Paniagua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pancracio Paniagua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Quinto Ampudia in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 95th minute Playa Malvín were awarded a corner. Vladimiro Marquez went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Playa Malvín's corner Vladimiro Marquez fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pancracio Paniagua quite easily take care of the ball.
