After having played for 7 minutes, Gary Lineker managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Academica Pulheim's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gary Lineker was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 12th minute, Academica Pulheim's Alex Mansilha dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Parker English received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Paul Heyckendorf tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Charlotte FC's Bryant Miles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Mansilha in the 19th minute of play. A collision led to Academica Pulheim getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Ilie Zâncă hit a great ball. Bryant Miles made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Kurt Ahrem sent off a good shot on target. Bryant Miles made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joachim Kretschmer in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the game, Don Malbec cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Paul Heyckendorf was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gary Lineker in the 36th minute of play forced Charlotte FC's goalkeeper Bryant Miles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bryant Miles made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lutz Golke in the 40th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alex Mansilha in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bryant Miles saved Charlotte FC from getting behind. Charlotte FC's Bryant Miles proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Charlotte FC from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alex Mansilha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes, Kurt Ahrem made it 3-1 with a short kick to the right side. Charlotte FC's Bryant Miles tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bryant Miles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gary Lineker in the 55th minute of the match. Academica Pulheim's Zbigniew Setara was substituted for Kurt Ahrem. In the 58th minute Academica Pulheim were awarded a corner. Alex Mansilha went to the cornerflag to take it. Charlotte FC's Bryant Miles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maxime Vrints in the 59th minute of play. After 60 played minutes Charlotte FC got a freekick which was hit by Wander Suzanne. Academica Pulheim's Roberto Seppmann was substituted for Reinhard Baum. After 61 played minutes Charlotte FC got a freekick which was hit by Wander Suzanne. 63 minutes into the match, Charlotte FC's goal looked a bit too open when Maxime Vrints came free, but Bryant Miles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Mansilha in the 67th minute of play forced Charlotte FC's goalkeeper Bryant Miles to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bryant Miles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maxime Vrints, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. 75 minutes into the match, Charlotte FC's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Mansilha came free, but Bryant Miles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paul Heyckendorf was a little too slow when Don Malbec got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 3-2. Charlotte FC's Kareem Stoddard was substituted for Wander Suzanne. Charlotte FC's Vicente Rafferty was substituted for Don Malbec. Vicente Rafferty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 91 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's goal looked a bit too open when Vicente Rafferty came free, but Paul Heyckendorf reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ole Pankok hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Charlotte FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Academica Pulheim.
