Matti Erkiner started the match with the kick off. After 2 played minutes 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz got a freekick which was hit by Egon Künkler. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper 俞冰帆, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Heinz-Gerd Bonin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diego Belém in the 12th minute of the match. After having played for 15 minutes, Matti Erkiner managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Matti Erkiner was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Albirex Niigata FC booed when 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charles Gadd didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Matti Erkiner managed to get in a good position for a shot. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's supporters rose to their feet, but Matti Erkiner was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 俞冰帆 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matti Erkiner in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck 俞冰帆 prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 33 played minutes 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz got a freekick which was hit by Charles Gadd. In the 35th minute, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Matti Erkiner dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. In the 39th minute Diego Belém shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heinz-Gerd Bonin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Albirex Niigata FC's 俞冰帆 got control of the ball when Matti Erkiner tried to sneak it across the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Diego Belém to make the kick off. Charles Gadd kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Diego Belém could shoot a difficult shot in the 64th minute, which Heinz-Gerd Bonin however easily saved by the left post. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper 俞冰帆, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 67th minute Matti Erkiner shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 俞冰帆 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Albirex Niigata FC's goalkeeper 俞冰帆, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 85 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's goal looked a bit too open when Matti Erkiner came free, but 俞冰帆 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 91 minutes into the game, Charles Gadd was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Albirex Niigata FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's Charles Gadd got a free kick in the 91st minute. 95 minutes into the match, Matti Erkiner had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 俞冰帆. Albirex Niigata FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Matti Erkiner was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. 1.FC Aufbau-Einsturz's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
