In the 7th minute Zico Maravilha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimir Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 21stth minute of the game Valdomiro Luz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Cavern Club's Vladimir Prestes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 22nd minute, The Cavern Club's Alberigo Prosperi dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 27 minutes into the match, Alberigo Prosperi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paulo Leão. Misericordia EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberigo Prosperi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The supporters of The Cavern Club booed when Misericordia EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio Muralhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santiago Emesto made a great header on The Cavern Club's corner, it was just that Misericordia EC's Paulo Leão managed to reach the ball for a save. Gonzalo Vergaray took the ball and in the 41 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Leão. Paulo Leão dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Vladimir Prestes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Luís Amaral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, The Cavern Club's Santiago Emesto got a free kick in the 57th minute. Luis Vázquez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulo Leão having to interfere. Paulo Leão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Vázquez in the 73rd minute of the match. Vladimir Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremias Tinoco, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Paulo Leão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Vázquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Luis Vázquez put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Paulo Leão. Misericordia EC's Aníbal Goiano shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 90th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Vladimir Prestes but with some difficulty. Paulo Leão didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luis Vázquez went, in the 91st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. 95 minutes into the game, Jan Vertonghen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Misericordia EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave The Cavern Club the free kick. The referee gave The Cavern Club a penalty, 96 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Yoel Liñan, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Misericordia EC's Paulo Leão. 7-1. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. The Cavern Club were victorious despite being under pressure from Misericordia EC for much of the match.
