Deng Liang Yao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 13th minute of play. With a little luck, Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan got control of the ball when Generoso Nazario tried to sneak it across the goal line. Defensores de Fasano's Deng Liang Yao played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Silverio Tuste in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute of the match Newells Old Boys got a corner. Defensores de Fasano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. André-Pierre Gignac ran over to the corner to take the kick. Serafino Jurdan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Generoso Nazario went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Serafino Jurdan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Andrade, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Roland Deutsch in the 40th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Serafino Jurdan saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roland Deutsch in the 44th minute of play. Roland Deutsch's late challenge caught a Newells Old Boys's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roland Deutsch helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Newells Old Boys booed when Defensores de Fasano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roland Deutsch didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Silverio Tuste made a kick off. In the 51st minute, Generoso Nazario ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Serafino Jurdan was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 54 minutes into the game, Defensores de Fasano's Luiz Andrade nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Serafino Jurdan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Anastasio Berasko during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Anastasio Berasko kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Generoso Nazario struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Serafino Jurdan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Defensores de Fasano. After 63 played minutes Newells Old Boys got a freekick which was hit by André-Pierre Gignac. In the 63rd minute of the match Gonchan Ocejo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Serafino Jurdan skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when André-Pierre Gignac got free with Deng Liang Yao in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. André-Pierre Gignac spun around in front of the goal 75 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Defensores de Fasano's goal. Defensores de Fasano's Ruben Teodor was substituted for Generoso Nazario. 84 minutes into the match, Paolo Gabino notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan. Serafino Jurdan was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Serafino Jurdan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ruben Teodor went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by André-Pierre Gignac in the 91st minute of play forced Defensores de Fasano's goalkeeper Deng Liang Yao to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 94 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Teodor came free, but Serafino Jurdan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Defensores de Fasano fully deserved thier win.
