Fabio Totakoxe stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ambrosio Frasco's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. After some careless play in the Salinas FC defense, Wilfredo Beliran kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Elvio Lohitzun. The Salinas FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Elvio Lohitzun should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Forest Green getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Primitivo Colon hit a great ball. Elvio Lohitzun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Beliran, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 28th minute of the match, Wilfredo Beliran tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Elvio Lohitzun saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a defensive mix-up in Salinas FC's zone, Jacobo Iruinea stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elvio Lohitzun came out of the goal and Jacobo Iruinea tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the match, Forest Green's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Maule came free, but Fabio Totakoxe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Salinas FC booed when Forest Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florentino Piarres didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adan Frechoso hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Bartolo Pedroso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anselmo Maule in the 45th minute of play forced Forest Green's goalkeeper Fabio Totakoxe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacobo Iruinea stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fabio Totakoxe made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Ambrosio Frasco sent off a good shot on target. In the 59th minute Florentino Piarres shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Elvio Lohitzun saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A well-hit corner resulted in Wilfredo Beliran heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The corner led Forest Green's Lisandro Loreto to fire away a dangerous shot which Elvio Lohitzun despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
