With his leg Heiner Studer managed to avoid a goal in the 3rdth minute, when Sheriff's Clayton Gol fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in Sheriff's zone, Nico Gruenewald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Yahia van der Saar came out of the goal and Nico Gruenewald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Casimir Wickihalter in the 8th minute of play forced Sheriff's goalkeeper Yahia van der Saar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 12th minute Owain Wollenmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Yahia van der Saar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Clayton Gol in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Heiner Studer saved 1. FC Union Weberei from getting behind. Erik Hertzog received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Yahia van der Saar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to 1. FC Union Weberei getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Owain Wollenmann hit a great ball. 30 minutes into the match, Clayton Gol dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Heiner Studer, 2-0. Clayton Gol sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 34 minutes into the match, 1. FC Union Weberei's goalkeeper Heiner Studer had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clayton Gol. The crowd rose to their feet as Clayton Gol kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Heiner Studer. That made the score 3-0 in the 36 minute of play. A throw-in in the 46th minute of the game was made by Maurice Weber with Felix Pierucci as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Erik Hertzog to strike the kick off in the second half. Sheriff's Yahia van der Saar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nico Gruenewald in the 52nd minute of play. If Clayton Gol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Heiner Studer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clayton Gol, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Clayton Gol blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Heiner Studer having to make a save. Heiner Studer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Clayton Gol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sheriff made a substitution. Iraklis Karasavvidis replaced Dragoş Bălace. Natalio Dominguez kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Sheriff's Clayton Gol got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Clayton Gol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 71st minute Clayton Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heiner Studer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nico Gruenewald in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Yahia van der Saar, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The audience was convinced that Clayton Gol's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Heiner Studer was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Clayton Gol managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sheriff's supporters rose to their feet, but Clayton Gol was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Heiner Studer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 80 minutes into the match, 1. FC Union Weberei's goal looked a bit too open when Clayton Gol came free, but Heiner Studer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clayton Gol might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Heiner Studer. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Clayton Gol ran back to his position shaking his head. The Sheriff fans' excitement grew in the 84th match minute when Sheriff's Clayton Gol looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. For all the effort they put into the match, the 1. FC Union Weberei players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Sheriff.
