After 13 minutes, Ľubomír Smatana made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Newells Old Boys's Yalçın Erensoy tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Yalçın Erensoy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ľubomír Smatana in the 18th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-1.

The wind increased when Ľubomír Smatana made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ľubomír Smatana in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yalçın Erensoy saved Newells Old Boys from getting behind. After some careless play in the Newells Old Boys defense, Ľubomír Smatana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Yalçın Erensoy.
