The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Reinaldo Palmeira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Henrique Tinoco having to make a save. 9 minutes had been played when some careless play by Hiperbórea's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Doron Bantz was slow to take the kick. During this time Ricart Futebol Clube's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Hans-Jürgen Beckenbauer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hiperbórea's Henrique Tinoco did a great save. Henrique Tinoco came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Ricart Futebol Clube's Abel Ramalho. But to his dismay, Abel Ramalho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 13th minute Călin Caciulescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andres Ekhi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ricart Futebol Clube's Vlad Geamănu got a free kick in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Hiperbórea's Santiago Couto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Andres Ekhi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 20 minutes into the match, Hiperbórea's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Ramalho came free, but Henrique Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Andres Ekhi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Călin Caciulescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Andres Ekhi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Călin Caciulescu in the 24th minute of the match. Andres Ekhi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paulo Leal in the 26th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Hiperbórea's zone, Doron Bantz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henrique Tinoco came out of the goal and Doron Bantz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andres Ekhi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vladimiro Caires in the 29th minute of play. Ricart Futebol Clube's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Doron Bantz in the 33rd minute. The corner ended in Doron Bantz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Hiperbórea's Henrique Tinoco did a great save. Anísio Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Abel Ramalho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Henrique Tinoco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Abel Ramalho sped through Hiperbórea's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Henrique Tinoco. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

After 50 played minutes Hiperbórea got a freekick which was hit by Santiago Couto. In the 51st minute, Abel Ramalho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Paulo Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hiperbórea's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Leal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andres Ekhi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
