In the 5th minute Júlio Arruda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Lama saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Baltazar Zonta kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After 9 played minutes, Veth Crystals's Song Xing shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rubinho de Amaral came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Veth Crystals reached it. The audience thought a goal was coming when He Lin Di got free with Rubinho de Amaral in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Real Cruzeiro FC's Rubinho de Amaral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by He Lin Di in the 16th minute of play. Rubinho de Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gwidon Patora in the 19th minute of the match. With a little luck, Real Cruzeiro FC's Rubinho de Amaral got control of the ball when He Lin Di tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 25 minutes, Nelson de Lima mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Cruzeiro FC and the Veth Crystals players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 33rd minute Gwidon Patora shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rubinho de Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Carlos-Armando Valderrama hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcos Lama took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Baltazar Zonta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Vivaldo Carmona to strike the kick off in the second half. Rubinho de Amaral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from He Lin Di in the 56th minute of the match. Marcos Lama showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vivaldo Carmona, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. In the 63rd match minute, Real Cruzeiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Inácio Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. Gwidon Patora hit a great ball. Baltazar Zonta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcos Lama read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th minute of the match Real Cruzeiro FC got a corner. Veth Crystals's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Baltazar Zonta ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ronaldo Nazário De Lima made a great header on Real Cruzeiro FC's corner, it was just that Veth Crystals's Marcos Lama managed to reach the ball for a save. If Baltazar Zonta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
