But to his dismay, Bernardo Soares quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Alejo Urtun hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. When Aurelio Aureo came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the El Millo de Haedo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aurelio Aureo couldn't finish the play. Victor Tróia kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hernán Crespo in the 19th minute of play forced Xapetuba Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Tiaguinho da Cunha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Xapetuba Futebol Clube's Tiaguinho da Cunha got control of the ball when Alejo Urtun tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adriano Rodrigues in the 23rd minute of play forced El Millo de Haedo's goalkeeper Fernando Ruisko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 24th minute Adriano Rodrigues shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Ruisko saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Xapetuba Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Remigio Uhin came free, but Tiaguinho da Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adriano Rodrigues scored 0-2 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fernando Ruisko, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The El Millo de Haedo players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Xapetuba Futebol Clube were winning 0-2.

The wind increased when Jacinto Paraíba made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jacinto Paraíba during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of El Millo de Haedo booed when Xapetuba Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Paraíba didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 52 played minutes, El Millo de Haedo's Hernán Crespo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tiaguinho da Cunha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in El Millo de Haedo reached it. Fernando Ruisko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacinto Paraíba's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Amauri de Lima kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Xapetuba Futebol Clube made a substitution. Patrick Neiva replaced Jacinto Paraíba. A collision led to Xapetuba Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Amauri de Lima hit a great ball. In the 60th minute El Millo de Haedo were awarded a corner. Hernán Crespo went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led El Millo de Haedo's Hernán Crespo to fire away a dangerous shot which Tiaguinho da Cunha despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 63rd minute, Patrick Neiva made a precise shot to the right of Fernando Ruisko. El Millo de Haedo's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Aurelio Aureo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiaguinho da Cunha having to interfere. Tiaguinho da Cunha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Aureo in the 71st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Xapetuba Futebol Clube's Danilo Dionísio got a free kick in the 73rd minute. El Millo de Haedo's Fernando Ruisko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save El Millo de Haedo from getting a goal against them. In the 91st minute, Amauri de Lima got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. El Millo de Haedo's Alejo Urtun got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Xapetuba Futebol Clube walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
