When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Carlos Alberto Azevedo put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Albert Muscaș. Albert Muscaș came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Atlético Nacional's Carlos Alberto Azevedo. But to his dismay, Carlos Alberto Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 10 played minutes Dark Prophets got a freekick which was hit by Virgil Vulturar. The audience was convinced that Carlos Alberto Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Albert Muscaș was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. When Atlético Nacional's Carlos Alberto Azevedo in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dark Prophets's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Carlos Alberto Azevedo sped through Dark Prophets's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Albert Muscaș. Mihăiţă Gheție hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. With 22 minutes on the clock, Dorel Cernescu commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee gave Atlético Nacional a penalty, 25 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Baldomero Rodas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Dark Prophets's Albert Muscaș. 0-4. Atlético Nacional's Nemesio Damario was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Albert Muscaș in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Virgil Vulturar kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. 35 minutes in the game, Carlos Alberto Azevedo dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Dark Prophets's Albert Muscaș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Azevedo in the 40th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Dark Prophets's Virgil Vulturar got a free kick in the 41st minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Primitivo Mendez shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Albert Muscaș showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Dark Prophets's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Primitivo Mendez was slow to take the kick. During this time Atlético Nacional's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Atlético Nacional's Primitivo Mendez to fire away a dangerous shot which Albert Muscaș despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Azevedo made a kick off. With a little luck, Dark Prophets's Albert Muscaș got control of the ball when Carlos Alberto Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Albert Muscaș was a little too slow when Primitivo Mendez got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 56th minute. The score was now 0-7. The crowd rose to their feet as Atlético Nacional's Carlos Alberto Azevedo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Albert Muscaș. That made the score 0-8 after 59 minutes of play. 62 minutes into the match, Dark Prophets's goalkeeper Albert Muscaș had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Baldomero Rodas. In the 63rd minute, Dark Prophets's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Carlos Alberto Azevedo fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Albert Muscaș stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Alberto Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Atlético Nacional made a substitution. Nicanor Karmel replaced Nemesio Damario. Albert Muscaș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Carlos Alberto Azevedo took a quick shot and it went in 0-9 without a chance for Albert Muscaș to make any attempt to save it. 78 minutes into the match, Carlos Alberto Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Albert Muscaș. Dark Prophets's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Alberto Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-10. Carlos Alberto Azevedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Albert Muscaș read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. When Atlético Nacional's Carlos Alberto Azevedo in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Dark Prophets's goalie prevented a goal. After 86 minutes, Mihăiţă Gheție mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dark Prophets and the Atlético Nacional players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Atlético Nacional booed when Dark Prophets was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihăiţă Gheție didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 87th play minutes Carlos Alberto Azevedo shot 0-11, a short shot which went by Albert Muscaș and just under the crossbar into goal. If Vicente Sasoin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute of the match Petrică Ciolofan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Teodoro Peio showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Carlos Alberto Azevedo might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Albert Muscaș. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carlos Alberto Azevedo ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Dark Prophets defense, Santiago Herrera kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Muscaș. The Dark Prophets fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Muscaș should have stopped the shot. Atlético Nacional played a much better game than Dark Prophets and deserved their victory. The Dark Prophets players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
