Zhao Yao Ying could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Stanislaw Lichucki made a huge save. In the 11th minute of the match, Zhao Yao Ying got a very nice opportunity to score, but Stanislaw Lichucki was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Stanislaw Lichucki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zhao Yao Ying, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, Oldham Athletic's Stanislaw Lichucki threw himself towards the right post 42 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian-Federico Dolić, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Cambaratiba's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Valter Abrahamsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Cambaratiba's zone, Zhao Yao Ying stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stanislaw Lichucki came out of the goal and Zhao Yao Ying tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Oldham Athletic walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
