The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Gabi Gol put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ove Hake. Erasmo dos Santos struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Ove Hake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for América-SC F.C.. 8 minutes into the game, América-SC F.C.'s Gabi Gol nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ove Hake made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. After 11 played minutes Nils Liedholm IF got a freekick which was hit by Östen Olsson. Ove Hake took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gabi Gol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gabi Gol took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ove Hake. Ove Hake dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. A collision led to América-SC F.C. getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Erasmo dos Santos hit a great ball. In the 22nd minute, Erasmo dos Santos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gabi Gol blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ove Hake having to make a save. In the 24th minute Gabi Gol shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ove Hake saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Gabi Gol put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Ove Hake. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Nils Liedholm IF's goalkeeper Ove Hake, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Nils Liedholm IF's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Elder Domingues was slow to take the kick. During this time América-SC F.C.'s players had a chance to rest. Östen Olsson kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Ove Hake came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by América-SC F.C.'s Gabi Gol. But to his dismay, Gabi Gol quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Erasmo dos Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 43 minutes into the match, América-SC F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Jörgen Bjurström came free, but Nestor Quirino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Erasmo dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the América-SC F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Erasmo dos Santos couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-7 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Jörgen Bjurström made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Nils Liedholm IF's goal looked a bit too open when Gabi Gol came free, but Ove Hake reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 53 minutes into the game, América-SC F.C.'s Gabi Gol nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ove Hake made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-8. Ove Hake made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gabi Gol in the 69th minute. In the 70th match minute, América-SC F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erasmo dos Santos to maneuver through the defense. América-SC F.C. made a substitution. Alfredo Secco replaced Eliézer Azevedo. In the 71st minute, Erasmo dos Santos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Nils Liedholm IF getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Harry Wennerquist hit a great ball. América-SC F.C.'s Elder Domingues couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 77th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Nils Liedholm IF. 80 minutes into the match, Luís Henrique had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ove Hake. Nils Liedholm IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Henrique was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-11. Nils Liedholm IF's Ove Hake played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Henrique in the 83rd minute of play. 88 minutes into the game, Luís Henrique cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-12. Ove Hake was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Elder Domingues kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ove Hake. That made the score 0-13 in the 92 minute of play. 97 minutes into the match, Erasmo dos Santos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ove Hake. Nils Liedholm IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Erasmo dos Santos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-14. América-SC F.C.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
