In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palestra14's goalkeeper Frits Heinel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 13 minutes into the match, Palestra14's goal looked a bit too open when Mårten Abrahamsson came free, but Frits Heinel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Gianluigi Lentini was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palestra14's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Melchester Rovers the free kick. In the 15th minute, Cain Vieri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frits Heinel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mårten Abrahamsson's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Mikael Meck sped through Palestra14's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Frits Heinel. Frits Heinel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mårten Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mårten Abrahamsson got free with Frits Heinel in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig Vikström in the 33rd minute of play forced Palestra14's goalkeeper Frits Heinel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Melchester Rovers's Stig Vikström in the 36th minute got a chance for a shot 36th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 47th match minute, Melchester Rovers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brian Strömberg to maneuver through the defense. After 48 played minutes, Palestra14's Vinnie Jones shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ronny Westerberg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Palestra14 reached it. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mikael Meck to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Brian Strömberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Frits Heinel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mårten Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. The supporters of Melchester Rovers booed when Palestra14 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vinnie Jones didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Palestra14's Emanuele Bartolomucci got a free kick in the 58th minute. Hans Svensson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cain Vieri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronny Westerberg having to interfere. Frits Heinel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mårten Abrahamsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mårten Abrahamsson in the 74th minute of play forced Palestra14's goalkeeper Frits Heinel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute Mårten Abrahamsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frits Heinel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Melchester Rovers's Ronny Westerberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Melchester Rovers from getting a goal against them. Frits Heinel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mikael Meck, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Mårten Abrahamsson came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Melchester Rovers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mårten Abrahamsson couldn't finish the play.
