Rambo Ramírez came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's Jérémy Sarmiento. But to his dismay, Jérémy Sarmiento quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Rambo Ramírez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jérémy Sarmiento in the 28th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C's zone, Rubén Martínez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Botello Pinto came out of the goal and Rubén Martínez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of FURIA MACHALEÑA S.C booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marco-Antonio Etcheverry didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 40 minutes of play, Colo-Colo's Rubén Martínez made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Botello Pinto was left in no man's land by his defense there! Faustão Prestes lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Colo-Colo! The Colo-Colo players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half.
