Jerzy Gorgoń blasted a shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacinto Cuadrado having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jerzy Gorgoń in the 6th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 8 minutes in the game Gabriel Martinelli did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Rolando Amorebieta. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Antoni Tipinski in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacinto Cuadrado prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antoni Tipinski in the 14th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Jacinto Cuadrado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Niebiański&Team booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lazaro Marin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Boca Juniors's Arkadiusz Banaszak ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rüştü Rencber. Rüştü Rencber yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 26 minutes into the match, Antoni Tipinski notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Boca Juniors's Jacinto Cuadrado. Jacinto Cuadrado was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match clock showed 29 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Hitzeder Manrique sped through Niebiański&Team's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rüştü Rencber. In the 36th minute Ulf Johansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Cuadrado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Boca Juniors were awarded a corner in the 42th minute after Niebiański&Team's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Hitzeder Manrique took the corner. The corner led to Boca Juniors's Rainerio Obis getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Rüştü Rencber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rolando Amorebieta in the 51st minute of the match. Jacinto Cuadrado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antoni Tipinski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rüştü Rencber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hitzeder Manrique in the 76th minute of play. If Antoni Tipinski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Milen Kúlvachev had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Boca Juniors fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Boca Juniors's Rolando Amorebieta looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal.
