The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ennio De Nardis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Nestor Carioca made a huge save. Armando Polidori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Fábio Lima, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ernesto Minichiello got free with Nestor Carioca in the 18th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nestor Carioca made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Ennio De Nardis sent off a good shot on target. 27 minutes into the game, Alberigo Gianfrancesco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Nestor Carioca was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 30th minute, Alberigo Gianfrancesco reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nestor Carioca. The goal made the score 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Cabral in the 33rd minute of play forced XMAS's goalkeeper Armando Polidori to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nestor Carioca was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Ernesto Minichiello capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ernesto Minichiello really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. After 37 played minutes XMAS got a freekick which was hit by Eugenio Casiraghi. In the 39th match minute, XMAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Zaccardi to maneuver through the defense. Nestor Carioca made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ennio De Nardis in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute, XMAS's Ernesto Minichiello ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nestor Carioca. Nestor Carioca yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-0. Luiz Fábio Lima recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Luiz Fábio Lima was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, XMAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruno Alessandrini to maneuver through the defense. After 62 played minutes Barrenta SC got a freekick which was hit by Hernani Couto. In the 64th minute Ennio De Nardis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nestor Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Zaccardi hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Armando Polidori didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luiz Fábio Lima went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. In the 80th match minute, XMAS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christian Zaccardi to maneuver through the defense. Nestor Carioca showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Minichiello in the 82nd minute of the match.
