Henry Nölting showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roswin Westermayer, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. After a rather tough play, Academica Pulheim's Jacek Thierse got a free kick in the 7th minute. Wolf Poll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jari Anzengruber in the 14th minute of play. 24 minutes into the match, Tiger's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Schaffert came free, but Wolf Poll reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Antonius Zagermann fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tiger's protests and gave Antonius Zagermann a yellow card for diving instead. Tiger's Wolf Poll played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Noel Schaffert in the 28th minute of play. The corner led to Academica Pulheim's Jacek Thierse getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Jacek Thierse charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jacek Thierse the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 30th match minute, Academica Pulheim was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacek Thierse to maneuver through the defense. 32 minutes into the match, Academica Pulheim's goal looked a bit too open when Elis Färber came free, but Henry Nölting reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Henry Nölting showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elis Färber in the 41st minute of the match. Dé Pereira was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 43 minutes into the match. Dé Pereira kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Tiger made a substitution. Olgierd Lato replaced Tor Jäger. Academica Pulheim's Roman Biehlert got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Noel Schaffert was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Rolf Matzken managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tiger's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rolf Matzken was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Tiger defense, Noel Schaffert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wolf Poll. The Tiger fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wolf Poll should have stopped the shot. Wolf Poll made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Noel Schaffert in the 60th minute of play. Henry Nölting made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edmund Schoettle in the 63rd minute of play. Edmund Schoettle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Henry Nölting tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tiger's Wolf Poll proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Tiger from getting a goal against them. After 90 played minutes Academica Pulheim got a freekick which was hit by Jimmy Pinder. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Academica Pulheim walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
