Dag Ose kicked well hit freekick during the 4th minute of the match. Fausto George showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Liknes in the 9th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilfredo Etxahun in the 13th minute of play forced Daustad's goalkeeper Karsten Hveding to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fausto George came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Daustad's Tord Sundnes. But to his dismay, Tord Sundnes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Daustad was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dag Ose didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Omar Etor hit a great ball. Wilfredo Etxahuns short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Karsten Hveding to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Daustad's Karsten Hveding played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wilfredo Etxahun in the 28th minute of play. In the 29th minute of the match Sporting de Gijón got a corner. Daustad's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Wilfredo Etxahun ran over to the corner to take the kick. Karsten Hveding made an important save on a dangerous shot by Celedonio Kinsen in the 33rd minute. With a little luck, Daustad's Karsten Hveding got control of the ball when Wilfredo Etxahun tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 42 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Lautaro Blanco. After a rather tough play, Daustad's David Reitan got a free kick in the 44th minute. Eloy Timo struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Karsten Hveding didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. Wilfredo Etxahun kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 48thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Daustad's keeper Karsten Hveding was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Wilfredo Etxahun made the kick off in the second half. Fausto George was a little too slow when Christian Liknes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 55th minute. The score was now 0-2. Fausto George took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Liknes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 67 minutes into the match, Daustad's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Etxahun came free, but Karsten Hveding reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When David Reitan fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Daustad's protests and gave David Reitan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd match minute, Daustad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Reitan to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th match minute, Daustad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Reitan to maneuver through the defense. After 75 minutes, Lars Juul mouthed his way into the referee's book. Karsten Hveding guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Daustad walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
