Remigiusz Cisek fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fausto George having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Pawel Bugno fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cyryl Zbydniewski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas-Armando Giunta in the 19th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Eloy Timo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pawel Bugno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Fausto George tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Remigiusz Cisek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Sporting de Gijón's Mauro Perez was substituted for Omar Etor. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wilfredo Etxahun to strike the kick off in the second half. Olaf Sienkowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Justo Orlo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fausto George read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fausto George should have stopped the shot. 65 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Justo Orlo came free, but Fausto George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the game, Eloy Timo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting de Gijón's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Majachun the free kick. A collision led to Sporting de Gijón getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Eloy Timo hit a great ball. 68 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Remigiusz Cisek came free, but Fausto George reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Timoteo Eguntsenti replaced Cristian Medina. Sporting de Gijón's Aaron Anselmino was substituted for Eloy Timo. Majachun were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after Sporting de Gijón's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jaroslaw Dembkowski took the corner. In the 75th minute Remigiusz Cisek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fausto George saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when Majachun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. André de Queirós didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fausto George tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Celedonio Kinsen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 99th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cyryl Zbydniewski having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Majachun players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
