Eduardo Mincho's late challenge caught a Terapia Intensiva's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eduardo Mincho helped the player get up and apologised. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Atlético Nuevo Laredo! Benicio Javiero had in the 35thth minute some difficulties stopping Melquiades Beila's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 38th minute, Terapia Intensiva's Lorenzo Fernanco ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Benicio Javiero. Benicio Javiero yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 41 minutes into the match, Atlético Nuevo Laredo's goal looked a bit too open when Lorenzo Fernanco came free, but Benicio Javiero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tobias Truylos came free with the goalkeeper in the 44th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Benicio Javiero could save by the left post. Benicio Javiero made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Melquiades Beila sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
