The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovanildo Luis got free with George Buturugã in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 10 minutes into the match, LOI's goal looked a bit too open when Geovanildo Luis came free, but George Buturugã reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geovanildo Luis might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over George Buturugã. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geovanildo Luis ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience thought a goal was coming when Geovanildo Luis got free with George Buturugã in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Haji Sarap showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sulo Montaña, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Haji Sarap took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özgür Özbay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. George Buturugã showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovanildo Luis in the 20th minute of the match. After some careless play in the LOI defense, Geovanildo Luis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of George Buturugã. The LOI fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that George Buturugã should have stopped the shot. A throw-in in the 33rd minute of the game was made by Mehmet Akif Cerme with Kaan Öztanır as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Haji Sarap showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sulo Montaña in the 36th minute of the match. If Geovanildo Luis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geovanildo Luis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. LOI's George Buturugã played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Geovanildo Luis in the 44th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sulo Montaña was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Geovanildo Luis in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck George Buturugã prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Geovanildo Luis came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Joinville City - FSCMZ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Geovanildo Luis couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geovanildo Luis in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Buturugã saved LOI from getting behind. George Buturugã showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geovanildo Luis in the 70th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Ronaldinho Gaucho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Buturugã saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Horácio Abraão was substituted for Bernardino Llorenc. Joinville City - FSCMZ's Adhemar Santos was substituted for Geovanildo Luis. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adhemar Santos in the 78th minute of play forced LOI's goalkeeper George Buturugã to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joinville City - FSCMZ's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
