An unexpectedly hard shot by Gigel Răduța in the 3rd minute of play forced Espen Steelers's goalkeeper Gregor Kobel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute of the game Ingo Minder made a throw-in which Alberto Giacometti played forward. With a little luck, BVB 09's Zygmunt Koprowski got control of the ball when Alain Berset tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 14th minute, one of Espen Steelers:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Espen Steelers. 19 minutes into the match, Espen Steelers's Alain Berset sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zygmunt Koprowski narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 21 minutes BVB 09's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Williams Imholz who took care of the corner kick. 26 minutes into the game, Alain Berset recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Zygmunt Koprowski. Alain Berset showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. When Espen Steelers's Alain Berset in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Espen Steelers's goalie prevented a goal. Zygmunt Koprowski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alain Berset in the 41st minute. Espen Steelers's Lenny Rubin managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Petre Coporan in the 45 minute of the game. BVB 09's Zygmunt Koprowski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save BVB 09 from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Stan Wawrinka to make the kick off. Alain Berset's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zygmunt Koprowski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Zygmunt Koprowski came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Espen Steelers's Alain Berset. But to his dismay, Alain Berset quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After 66 minutes of play, Espen Steelers's Alain Berset made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Zygmunt Koprowski was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 78th minute Stan Wawrinka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zygmunt Koprowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Espen Steelers booed when BVB 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gigel Răduța didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute, Rogelio Montez left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Espen Steelers fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. In the 85th minute, Lenny Rubin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zygmunt Koprowski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogelio Montez in the 87th minute of play.
