Steve Sharp made in the 39th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Quintin Starkey. After a rather tough play, C. A. Independiente's Ergin Nakovski got a free kick in the 41st minute. Jovens Democratas MZC's Ruy de Brito couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for C. A. Independiente. Ubaldo Fillol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chico de Sousa in the 44th minute of the match. In the 47th minute Chico de Sousa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ubaldo Fillol saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 47 minutes of play, Jovens Democratas MZC's Chico de Sousa made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ubaldo Fillol was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Mexhit Koçi replaced David Puyol. Ubaldo Fillol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marco van Basten in the 72nd minute. Ubaldo Fillol made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chico de Sousa in the 73rd minute of play. When Marco van Basten came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Jovens Democratas MZC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marco van Basten couldn't finish the play. Marco van Basten could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Ubaldo Fillol made a huge save. Ergin Nakovski hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Xu Li Sang managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jovens Democratas MZC's supporters rose to their feet, but Xu Li Sang was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ubaldo Fillol breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jovens Democratas MZC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ruy de Brito in the 83rd minute. After taking down the ball on Jovens Democratas MZC's corner Marco van Basten fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ubaldo Fillol quite easily take care of the ball.
